I was born and raised in Phoenix , Az. I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. I studied at an early age with various local artists and loved oil painting. I received my BFA at Arizona State University in 1986 and have been painting ever since. I love the brilliant warm light of the southwest. Bold color and dramatic compositions are my constants. I enjoy painting landscapes, still lives and interior spaces, even the occasional figure. I employ textures of all types and sometimes use drawing on the surface of the paintings. It all adds to the excitement to the piece. I am drawn to the qualities in my work that inspire my life. I like my paintings to show strength in composition, color and texture. I employ brush strokes to provide energy and will define with line objects to give them power. I think there is honesty in boldness. My compositions are straight forward, my color is brilliant and the line is strong. I enjoy the freedom of subject matter my philosophy allows. I love surprises and hope that my work will surprise others with its boldness. Life is full of wonder and inspiration. I am an eternal optimist, and I hope to convey that energy in every painting I create.
